#Synopsis The COVID-19 Pandemic has brought many challenges to peoples lives. In particular, it has affected the mental health of many, especially young and vulnerable people.
Mental illness affects 1 out of 4 people and the way it affects young people is different from how it affects adults. According to research by MQ, 75% of those living with a mental illness started developing symptoms before the age of 18.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for many young people worldwide. Though we know that mental illness is one of the largest risk factors for suicide, it is not yet possible to accurately predict who is in short-term danger of attempting suicide – leaving millions of individuals and their families at risk of devastating consequences of suicide.
It is in light of this that we’ve launched the Young Minds Matter - Mental Health Awareness and Stigma Reduction initiative (MASRI) to help tackle mental health issues in young people especially from its onset.
Please join us on our first Seminar to discuss Mental Health issues as it relates to young people.
